Dear Family and Friends!
What a great week! We had the car this time, and so we were able to drive all over to see tons of people (investigators, less actives, recent converts, and members)! I would lie if I didn't say that my favorite part of being a missionary so far has been the chance I have had to meet so many people who are all so incredible and humble in their own, unique circumstances--they all have their own stories to tell, and most importantly, their examples of courage & strength empowers and influences me. I feel I walk out of my visits with others, a better person because of their goodness.
Yesterday (Sunday) we had a dinner at Bishop Call's house! It was a night worth remembering because we had orange chicken--my fav--AND Bishop allowed us to invite Ana (our investigator from Chuuk) & her husband, Siris (less active)! The dinner went so well. Bishop with his sarcasm and Sister Call with her kindness made for an interesting yet amazing night. They were so sweet to Siris & Ana. It was so perfect! We were all sitting around eating ice cream, and Siris went to the bathroom. I said, "Hey Bishop! When I went into the bathroom earlier, the toilet paper was all gone. I bet Siris needs some." He quickly stood up and ran to his bedroom bathroom to grab an extra roll of TP. With the roll in hand, he knocked on the door and said, "Um... Siris, do you need some toilet paper?" The next thing we heard was the door opening and Siris saying, "Uh... ahhhh!! No I'm good! "Bishop then comes around the corner, red-faced, still with the toilet paper in hand and plops down on the couch. "Dang, I just walked in on a less active using the restroom in my house!!!" All of us girls burst out in laughter!! Oh man! It was so funny! We were dying! He was so embarrassed! Sister Bradshaw and I will never let him live this one down!
A recent convert in our ward, Sam Peck, has a nineteen year old sister who wanted to take discussions from the missionaries. Her name is Shelby. She is amazing! They have been studying all of the lessons and reading the Book of Mormon together. Her knowledge of the gospel and her desire to learn more is incredible--a missionaries' dream come true! hahaI love her so much! She sent us a text last night asking us if we could send her more ideas of chapters in the Book of Mormon to read because she already read everything we gave her. Shelby is going away to college in August, and she wants us to teach her all of the lessons before she leaves! Wow! We are so excited for her!
Old Vern's Birthday this week! We got him a little present, sang him Happy Birthday, and ate caramel cake with him! He wasn't too grumpy that day which was very good... we kept teasing him the whole time, "one year older and WISER too... hmm... hopefully now this old dog can learn new tricks!" haha
We were able to meet with Betty (84) this week. She lives in the cute, historic town of Weston, near Platte City. She has such a huge heart--she is a grandmother to all! The neatest part is being able to teach her. Betty asks us tons of questions, she reads & prays about the daily pamphlets we give her. Sister Bradshaw and I had the same exact feeling come over us when we drove away from her house, she will be baptized someday. She may not get the chance in this life, but she will be a member someday. Heavenly Father has an important role for her and in the world to come! What an elect and inspiring lady! :)
The church is true. God loves us! He will help if we are willing to find him. Also seek the good in life. :)
LOVE YOU! Love, Sister Timothy
P.s. JEN, our newest member of our YSA Branch is doing great!!! We keep in daily contact with her. She is so strong and I LOVE her so much!
