Family and friends,
Wowee! What a good week :) It was hard and long, but honestly, so worth it! It was probably one of my favorite weeks so far learned so much about the gospel, about me, and who I am as a missionary. Before I came on a mission, I had this image in my mind of what a sister missionary was supposed to be like (perfect, cookie-cutter, blissful, roses, butterflies, rainbows, etc.), but the longer I am a missionary, the more I realize that everything is not perfect, nor am I perfect and nor will I ever be. I am human. We are all human. I may be a missionary, but I am still me. I still have struggles and weaknesses, but they are there to humble me and to help me grow--they ARE blessings. To be honest, no one is perfect. Besides, if we were perfect, life would be too boring and we wouldn't need to be here on this earth--this life is the time for us to prepare to meet God through the experiences we have from our individual mistakes and trials.
We've been teaching this guy named Scott. He is awesome! We taught him about the Plan of Salvation this week. I love teaching him, the spirit is always so strong when he bears his testimony. He hasn't had a chance to read the Book of Mormon or come to church yet, so we are hoping that he will continue to progress and reach those important steps this upcoming week. Oh! and he even brought a couple books about his ancestors because he finds all of the sources of family history we have in the church really interesting.
Story time!!!!>>>>
#1: One morning, Sister Bradshaw was in the bathroom for what seemed like a very long time. So weird, little me wrote her a note saying, "Stop pooping... I miss YOU! :(" and slid the piece of paper under the door. When she came out, we laughed for the longest time, and she simply placed the note under the coffee table. A couple of days later, we were in our room with the door shut, and we heard the spirited Bishop Call say, "Hey Hermanas! I think you forgot your note," as he slid it under the door!!! Oh my! hahaha it was too funny!!!
#2: Last Wednesday, we had zone conference at the Liberty Stake Center (right next to the Kansas City Temple). Sister Bradshaw and I stopped for gas on our way out of town, and I plugged in the address for the building, but since the building is brand new, "Maggie" our GPS, did not have the exact location of the church in her system, so I found a street that was nearby hoping that it would take us to our approximate destination. But! Maggie, that crazy-old lady of a GPS, led us to a random road. We were completely lost and about to go bonkers!!!! We then called our Zone Leaders for help. They had us plug in some streets that were near the Stake Center, but every single one would not work! Sister Bradshaw and I were going crazy, 'is this really happening??' We decided to drive down the road to a Waffle House and ask for directions. Luckily, a lady working knew how to direct us back to the interstate, and we were able to find our way to our exit. We were so relieved when we saw the temple in our view! When we walked into our meeting, everyone was sitting there quietly waiting for us to arrive. hehe So embarrassing...Anyways! This made me think a lot about how in life, we are on this path trying our best to make it back to our Father in Heaven, but sometimes we take the wrong turn depending on our choices. We can end up on a random road, and we can feel completely lost. As, we humbly kneel and ask for help from our Father in Heaven, through prayer, he will direct us back to the right path. You are never lost when you can see the temple! Make decisions in your life now and in the future that will keep you on the right path, that eventually leads to eternal life :)
This week was Shelby's baptism!! I LOVE her so much!!!! When she walked into the font, her eyes filled up with tears and the spirit & joy that radiated from her face was so beautiful! Afterwards, I asked her how she felt, and she said that she felt as if a weight had been lifted from her shoulders & her heart was full of peace <3 She is incredible!! Her example of Christ-like love is inspiring to me--she has the purest heart, what an angel! I feel so blessed to have met her and to have been a part of her journey. Also! Guess who came to see the baptism!?!? Our Mission President and his wife, President and Sister Vest!!!! I love them both so much! They are the best! President Vest quotes ( just for me ):"Good things come in small packages, you know!""Keep smiling!!""Hello my little package!"
The gospel is true! God is real and loves everyone of us! Have a wonderful week!I learned how to say "I love you" in Chuuk (an island near Guam):It's pronounced, ""I ton no-row-k"!! :)
So!!! I ton norowk, Sister Timothy
