My first week here in the field has been amazing! MIRACLES, I can't even begin to describe how wonderful this experience has been. It's only been a short time, but I have already felt the unconditional love that our Father in Heaven sends His missionaries. His hand of comfort has touched my life this week, but the best part of it all, is that I have begun to see God's influence in the lives of those I teach. Seeing people change right before my eyes, incredible, my heart is full!
Sister Bradshaw, my cute companion, has been a huge blessing in my life, she truly helps me build up my confidence. As I learn more from her, I've grown to understand the beauty of my testimony and the sustaining power in sharing it with others. If you know me, you'll know that I adore nature! It is my favorite thing. I do miss the mountains in Utah, but I have to say that Missouri has THE most beautiful skies I have ever seen. The sky is huge, blue and is always filled with big, marshmallow clouds! I love it! Sometimes, either in the morning or at night, Missouri has thunderstorms with lightning blots and really loud thunder. It's incredible. (P.S. Mom, you would love the storms here, the lightning is awesome here, because there are no mountains to block the bolts.) At night, the sunsets are a "wow factor" and always bright orange. I am constantly surrounded by such beauty. Every tree, bug, rock, stream, sunset, or cloud, reminds me of my Savior. His love is imprinted in all of the creations of this world. Every little thing is just too magnificent and intricate to not be crafted by divine power. Being outdoors and hearing the wind blow between the leaves brings me peace, because I know that with every gust of air, He is there. "Be still, and know that I am God." -Psalms 46:10
Each day, we try our best to focus on our purpose as missionaries, which is to invite others to come unto Christ. Essentially, are we consistently trying to be good representatives of Jesus Christ? This idea, has really shaped me. Do those I know want to know HIM because they know me? Our investigator, Brother Devern Johnson, has committed to give up alcohol, which is a huge step for him because he has been meeting with the missionaries for the past two years. Before that he used to yell at & curse the missionaries off of his land. Heavenly Father has really, really been softening his heart. I truly adore this grumps! We call him "Verny Vern". Oh Verns, he is like our Grandpa. Whenever we go by to see him, he always offers us "wine", but really it is just sparkling grape juice. haha! Also, he always pours us a bowl full of Jordan Almonds. Yum! They are too good, it's dangerous. ;) haha (I eat so many!!) Verny Vern, he is amazing! I am indeed grateful for his progression, and I know that one day he will be baptized! Oh! and it's my job to ask him to be baptized, and according to Bishop Call, "who could say no to Sister Timothy, she's too adorable?!" haha!
All is well! The field is white already to harvest--been planting seeds all month. The gospel is true, our Heavenly Father loves us and wants the best for us. He's watching out for us--when we want to talk to Him, we pray, but when we want Him to talk to us, we read the scriptures. I love you all! And remember, worry ends where faith begins.
Love, Sister Timothy
