Jen is the tall, beautiful girl in the middle of sis. B and I :) :)
This week has been amazing! Guess what!? We had our very first baptism this week-- a girl from our YSA branch, Jen Elder! :) Sister Bradshaw and her companion before me were teaching Jen about a month ago, but things came up in her life, and so she wasn't able to take discussions from the missionaries anymore. Two weeks ago, Jen sent us a text saying that she wanted to meet up with us. Jen told us that she was ready and wanted to be baptized as soon as possible! Last Saturday, Jen was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Her baptism was so beautiful and the spirit was so strong :) Being able to reach this point in Jen's life was incredible for her! I felt honored to have shared that moment with her. The ward already wants to give her a calling as the new Gospel Doctrine Teacher!! She inspires me so much! <3 her :)
We had dinner at the Williams this week! I love them so much!! They are hilarious! Sister Williams makes really yummy food :) Always a bonus... After dinner, Sister and Brother Williams pulled out their toy Nerf guns and started shooting each other! Poor, Bro Williams is kind of crippled and so he was just sitting on the couch and Sister Williams kept shooting him right in the face at point-blank range! It was so sad, but really funny!! They are awesome! Sister Bradshaw and I were hiding behind the couch most of the time to avoid Sister Williams' stinging face shots, but soon we caved in and started to shoot her back! It was so fun! I also got the whole thing on video, so hopefully I can send it on email! (Watch the last few seconds of the clip, it's so funny!!)
Perfection--it does not come in this life, if we were already perfect, we would not be here nor would we need to be here. This life is meant for us. It is meant for our growth and learning (this life is the time for us to prepare to meet God). We will make mistakes. We will fall short, but that is why our Heavenly Father provided a Savior for all of us. We could not do it on our own. Christ is our support and strength, He is always there--and He will never forsake us! It reminds me of my favorite scripture in 2 Nephi 22: 2--"God is my salvation. I will trust and not be afraid. For the Lord, JEHOVAH, is my strength and my song, He has become my salvation."
Two miracles: #1- We met this nine year old girl named Skye at one of our investigator's apartments in Platte City two weeks ago. This week, we went to Weston, the next little city over, to visit a guy we tracted into (Tim), and guess who opened the door, SKYE--the same little girl we met back in Platte City. What are the odds?? All my companion and I could think of is that this little girl must really need to hear the gospel ;) #2- A couple of weeks ago, we met this 20 year old guy on the street riding a skateboard home from work. We stopped to talk with him and before we left, we gave him a card with our church address on the back and invited him to come to church. We didn't think much about it, but he ended up coming to Sacrament meeting! We almost didn't even recognize him! We have a follow up appointment with him this week, and we are so excited to get to know him better :) The church is true!!!
Have a great week!
